Love Rocks.....by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday weekly post of Creativity .
This week I have created an 'Art plaque' using several That's Crafty! Surfaces, both MDF and White/ Greyboard. For any of you who aren't familiar with That's Crafty's Surfaces be sure to pop by the shop (here) to browse the range of designs that are available. There really is 'something for everything' and the quality and price point is excellent!

I worked with one of the newer MDF designs as my base and on this occasion chose to cover it with a masterboard I created but you can work directly onto the surface if you prefer as the quality of the MDF is such that it can tolerate a whole lot of product being 'thrown' at it!
The master board I created is the result of both a 'mop up' and a 'mess up.'
The mop up being from a previous creative session and the mess up from doing just that - 'messing up' some black gesso/transparent crackle paste stencilling which resulted in me drenching the panel in copious amounts of water in a bid to get rid of the messy stencilling. I then screwed it up (out of frustration at myself for messing up the stencilling) and almost threw it (literally) into the bin but before I did I opened it out to reveal lots of creases that I knew I could work with so the 'mess up' in the end turned into a 'happy accident!
Once the masterboard was completely dry I highlighted the creases by braying over them with both white and black paint. I then measured, cut and adhered a piece to the MDF Plaque.

To finish off the background I added some stamped detail using Archival ink with a text and a dot stamp from a couple of PaperArtsy stamp sets. I also edged the MDF surface with white acrylic paint and splattered some black paint around here and there.

The focal feature is a combination of a few That's Crafty! smaller surfaces
- a MDF ATC treated to a thin scraping of grit paste, painted black and sponged with grey and white paint
a MDF heart covered with a piece cut from the masterboard excess
-a white/ greyboard heart crackled with crackle paint

and a greyboard lock treated in the same way as the MDF ATC and embellished with the round part of the piece that pops out of the lock, which I roughly coloured with paint.

The addition of some hex nuts and a few more paint splatters helped finish off the focal feature.

Another That's Crafty! greyboard lock treated in the same way as mentioned above provided the ideal mount for the stamped words which I thought suited the texture, look and feel of the project well.

Products I used

Hex Nuts
Water (lots of)

I hope you have enjoyed your time here with me today and that maybe I have offered some creative inspiration!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and for any comments you leave for my creativity.
Both are very much appreciated.
Wishing you a lovely week ahead and hope you will be able to join me here again next week.
... same time, same place .
Take Care
