Joy and Serendipity by Fliss Goodwin

Hello! I have another mixed media tag to share this week featuring lots of the new products which made their debut at the last Hochanda show and I really loved doing this one in particular. It also has a trick that I used to correct something which actually became serendipity.

What I Did:

I chose the round topped long tag for my creation and used the new daisy head stencil with texture paste to add the floral images at the top and bottom of the surface.

I then misted the tag with a mix of flat matte and lustre sprays, using Sage and Blueberry Flat Matte Sprays with Green and Lilac Lustre Sprays.

Once the tag was dry, I painted the daisy heads with Buttercup, Green, Lavender, Mustard and White multi surface paints to make the flowers pop.

I next prepared my embellishment, using one of the greyboard atcoin circles which I first misted with the same shades as the background. Once it was fully dry, I heat embossed the circle with several layers of clear embossing powder.

This is where serendipity came into the mix as I keep my clear embossing powder in a plastic box as I used to get through quite a lot when I taught stamping classes. Unfortunately at one of classes one of the ladies accidentally put white embossing powder back in the clear and it seems to have worked its way into my box! I ended up with odd white specks on my embossed surface. Inspiration struck and I solved the issue by swiping the affected areas with embossing ink and sprinkling with sparkly crystal embossing powder. When heated, the white specks didn't show - result!

I then heated the embossing again and pressed the joy word flower inked up with black into the molten embossing powder. This gave a good impression.

As you can see, the sparkle adds beautifully to the effect. I glued the panel to my tag and finished off with some saffron recycled sari silk ribbon tied at the top.
