Textured Wildflowers by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

Another panel, where I decided to be free with texture. With the Wildflower stamp, I wanted to move away from an obvious nature theme, wanting to set the stamp against a textural background with the use of That's Crafty! Mediums and paint application.

Supplies

That's Crafty! Surfaces MDF Panel (cut to size 6"x4")
That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set Lynne's Wildflowers Set 2 A5
That's Crafty! Multi-Surfaces Paints: Ivory, Chestnut Brown, Metallic Copper
That's Crafty! Surfaces Mixed Media Paper/Card Pack (Rice Paper)
That's Crafty! Texture Paste Sand
That's Crafty! Texture Paste
PaperArtsy Limited Edition Fresco Chalk Paints Set 1 (Midnight and Buff) and Set 4
Memento Ink Pad Paris Dusk and Tuxedo Black
PaperArtsy Eclectica Cling Stamps EEA02
Palette Knife
Gel Medium
Gesso
Extras
Shipping Tag (stained with Summer Fruits teabag)
Found Papers: Piece of brown page previously eco stained), kraft style paper painted with Gesso

Instructions

Adhere rice paper from the Mixed Media Paper/Card Kit which has been eco dyed. This brings another layer of texture and up close you can see it peeking through here and there but of course, you can skip this step and start applying paints and mediums to the MDF panel.

Apply the Texture Pastes, with palette knife, not covering the complete surface. Follow this with the various paints from That's Crafty! and the Seth Apter Frescos. Do not apply the Metallic Copper at this stage.

Onto a stained shipping tag (if you need to stain one, place tag into a tea bath, I worked with Summer Fruits which produces a red berry colour but when dry, it turns to a soft grey/blue). Stain Wildflower with Paris Dusk onto the tag, distressing the tag by tearing edges.  Layer to piece of kraft bag which has been eco dyed or you can spray with Walnut Ink. Gather found papers, fragments of denim, whatever you have to hand.

To upper right corner, ink up stamp from PaperArtsy EEA, with Tuxedo Black, stamping to create corner detail.

Finally, with the beautiful That's Crafty! Metallic Copper paint, applying with fingertips, catching the textures on the panel, adding highlights to the stamped tag,

including dipping end of pencil into the Copper paint to mark making.

* I will try and share videos on FB or Instagram, showing me preparing MDF panels with mediums and paints (I wasn't successful in upload them here).

Until next time,

Wishes
Lynne

  2. You are the master in making textures, my dear friend- your wild flower looks striking in blue, and the copper lift up the more douche tones, with its glittering surface. Love the details of the two bits of denim and the teacolored tag, so softly blue.
