Dreamer.... by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my weekly post as a Guest designer here at That's Crafty!
I have another art panel to share with you today. However, it could also be used as a book cover, maybe a journal entry or as I like to do sometimes be given as a card that can be used as a piece of art afterwards.

I had no definite direction when I began creating I just followed my creative muse.
I began with the background which is a piece of Mixed Media paper cut to size (7x7 inches), primed with gesso and painted with Distress Paints. Any brand of acrylic paint could be used in any variation of colours. The paint was applied with my fingers but brushes could be used if you don't fancy the idea of getting painty digits. Personally I love it!!

The stencil is by StencilGirl: 'Angel Circle'. Once positioned in place on the background I applied modelling paste through the stencil using a palette knife. Modelling paste has a thick consistency which makes it easier to apply through the thin stencil cuts of the design, lessening the risk of any bleeding underneath.
Whilst the paste was still wet I sprinkled embossing powder over it and heat set.
I then used a white pen to highlight the stencil design.

The edges of the background were also treated with modelling paste and heat embossed, this time with Deep Sea Baked Textures. The textured embossing was highlighted with gilding wax

Detail was added to the background using stamps with archival ink,

a stencil with black acrylic paint, lids dipped in white paint and a white and black fine line pen to make some marks and scribbles.

To finish I added the big chat sticker 'dreamer'

and mounted the panel onto white and black cardstock before adhering it to a piece of white/ greyboard cut to size. This gives it rigidity if you were choosing to display it as an art panel or give it as an 'artcard'.

Products I used

Cardstock: White /Black
White/Greyboard
Mixed Media Paper
White Gesso Distress Paints: Mermaid Lagoon, Picked Raspberry - other brands would work just as well and can be found here
Acrylic Paint - black /white.
DecoArt Modelling Paste
Embossing Powder
Paper Trimmer

I hope you have enjoyed your time with me today and that maybe my project has offered you some creative inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by.
Wishing you all a great week.
Take care
