Break the Rules... by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone
Welcome to my weekly post as a Guest Designer here at That's Crafty!
Though I am a grungy girl at heart this week I am bringing you some colour, lots of colour! Its bold. its bright and kinda funky!
I cut a piece of mixed media paper to size (6x6 ins) and covered it with Dina Wakley collage paper using matte medium to adhere and seal. I then coloured the white areas of the design using both Dina Wakley Acrylic paints and Tim Holtz Distress paints. I pretty much 'freestyled' with my application of paint using both my finger and brush breaking all the rules of 'keeping within the lines' as I knew once the colour was dry I would rework the black areas of the design with black acrylic paint. Don't know about you but at this stage it made me think of Liquorice Allsorts!
Using a white pen I then added some highlights and scribbly marks which really brought the painted design to life
and I couldn't resist adding a few paint splatters
The centre circle is a That's Crafty! MDF Round which I covered with another of Dina Wakley's collage papers. This time I kept the colours much lighter by watering down the paints and applying and blending with my finger. The script is highlighted with a white pen.
Dina's scribbled silhouette is stamped onto speciality stamping paper using Archival ink and a Stamping Platform
as are the words 'Break the Rules' which I very lightly distressed the edges of and mounted on to black cardstock.
The Stamping Platform enables you to repeat stamp to achieve a really dense black image that may otherwise be hard to achieve it you were using an acrylic block, especially so if you are troubled with dexterity/arthritic problems and lack in upper body strength.
All the elements were adhere in place and the panel was mounted onto a white and black card mount before finally being adhered to a panel of mountboard cut to size. A That's Crafty! MDF 8x8 square would be a great alternative to use instead of the mountboard.
