Vintage Floral Card by Fliss Goodwin and Hochanda News

11:00

Hello!
I have a rather more vintage style creation to share today to show that my fanciful flower stamps can just as easily be shabby chic as they can bright, bold and modern.

That's Crafty! also has 2 shows on Hochanda today with tons of gorgeous new goodies and demos by our lovely new lady Jo Channon. There will also be loads of amazing samples from my very talented DT sisters so do watch if you can (or record or use Hochanda rewind) as there will be lots of fabulous inspiration for you.

The show times are 12.00pm and 4.00pm - SKY 663, FREEVIEW 85, FREESAT 817

I first made a background with a sheet of A4 thin white card, only partly used on my finished card here so I have a bit more to make possibly 3 other cards from. I began by adding a little lime and magenta multi surface paints to 2 spray bottles which I diluted heavily with water. I sprizted this on to my card, allowing the paints to run and mingle in a few places to produce a soft shade of brown.

I then took the dot mandala stencil (I love this one!) and stencilled half the design on the left side and half on the right with white gesso. I used the same stencil to add more pattern at the top and bottom centres with Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink.

I then added some layered stamping, using the script texture stamp with the Twisted Citron oxide ink together with Worn Lipstick in various places at random until I was happy with the effect. I next stamped the rose texture stamp image with Vintage Photo oxide ink, again at random, stamping more than once to give a faded out look.

The end result was a little strong so I misted the card with a little water and carefully blotted it with a paper towel to give a much softer effect. I felt there was something missing so added more white gesso stencilling in the central area.

I next stamped my chosen flower and some leaves on mixed media paper using Archival Potting Soil ink (stamping each twice) and then painted the images with diluted oxide inks using the pink and green as before. I cut the images out, cutting only the centre of the second flower to layer the finished flower up.

I cut a square of my background paper to fit a square kraft card blank and distressed the edges with an emery board before gluing to the card. I added the flower and leaves using dimensional glue for a 3D effect, finishing off with my chosen quote, stamped with the brown ink on a scrap of mixed media paper coloured with the pink oxide ink - the pointy edges are because the image wouldn't fit on the square so I stamped on the diagonal and loved how it looked so it stayed that way! I added a few tiny pearls to the quilted centre to finish.

Supplies:

That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Sets - Textures Collection Set 1 and Set 3
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints - Lime and Magenta
Other - Thin white card, sponges ( I use make-up type), tiny pink pearls, square kraft card blank

Hope you managed to catch the shows but if not, there's always rewind.
Have a lovely and hopefully crafty weekend and see you next week.
