Instructions

I like to stain/paint batches at a time so I hopefully, then have a stash to dip into. For this project, I gathered such elements and directed by the colours of those elements, I then prepared the MDF panel by lightly applying Mahogany and Spanish Mulberry Frescos, almost wiping on and off.

Once the various leftovers, which consisted of sheet music, corrugated cardboard, packing paper, cardboard, were gathered, I set about layering them. Added to this was a greyboard heart which had also previously been painted, simply adding a scrap of found paper and vintage button with black sewing thread.  This topped a piece of vintage crochet lace which had previously been prepared with Plaid Folkart Rust Finish Kit. A twig, wrapped with jute was also added.

The collage image had previously been fussy cut but I had been unable to find a home for her until this project, where she becomes the central focus, allowing me to pair her with a PaperArtsy Eclectica EAB quote.

This is one reason That's Crafty! Surfaces are such an essential for me and I don't say this from a sense of D.T. loyalty. They are "must have" for Mixed Media because if I want to take this project a step further and add pastes, beeswax, or whatever else I might decide will enhance the story, I can do so without concern that the substrate will not hinder me when I add further layers.

Until next time!

Wishes
Lynne

  3. Such a beautiful collage Lynne. The distressed and aged layers are so lovely and go so well with the collaged lady and the heart is the perfect finishing touch.
