Pencilled Stencil ~ The Owl by Tracey Fairgrieve

11:00

Hello Creative Friends.

It's Thursday again which means it's my turn to share more That's Crafty! Creativity
with today using the latest Owl Stencil, MDF and a handful of pencils.

Here's what I did

Straight on to the bare MDF I traced through the stencil with pencil, edged around the image
with a watercolour pencil and used water to activate that colour and create a background.

Drawing a branch for the Owl to perch on, I sketched a Village silhouette scene
using colour to give light and atmosphere to the sky.

Water resistant pencils are used to create the Owls detail.

I love how the fibres of the board start to break down the heavier
the pencil is used; it gives such an organic look to the given owl.

Laying the stencil back over the image 3D Gloss Gel Medium is pushed through
using a palette knife, this not only gives protection to those exposed fibres
but also gives dimension to the image drawing in the eye.

When left to dry naturally the Gel medium dries completely clear to reveal that Owl.

My Pencilled Stencil Owl is Complete.

Thank you for sharing your time
I look forward to sharing more creativity
with you all very soon.

Take care & Stay Safe

Creative wishes
Tracey xx

  10. Absolutely stunning detail work with your pencils, Tracey - you have made this gorgeous owl even more magnificent. Brilliantly done - and such a clever idea to seal him by stencilling the gel medium over the top.
