When my Head is in the Sky by Bev Hilton
11:00
Hello everyone. I'm back here again
with this week's blog post. As I love making my own tags, I have made one today
using the fabulous Bentley by Donna Gray. I started out with the intention of
Bentley being a girl for my piece but now I'm not so sure. I will leave that
for you to decide :-)
Here's what I used...
That's Crafty! Stamp Set - Bentley
That's Crafty! Stamp Set - Lynne's Affirmations Set 2
Rubber Dance Stamp Set - Textured Flowers
That's Crafty! 8 x 8 Stenci - Big Floral
That's Crafty! Dinky Stencils - Distressed Harlequin and Bubbles
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paints - Toad Hall,
Tinned Peas, Granny Smith, Teresa Green, Snowflake, Wisteria and Purple Rain
Distress Inks - Spun Sugar, Mowed Lawn and Pine
Needles
Distress Oxide Ink - Wilted Violet
Memento Ink - Tuxedo Black
Versafine Ink - Onyx Black
Spectrum Noir Colorista Markers
Ribbon from stash
Pinflair Glue Gel
Here's what I did...
I began with a piece of smooth white
card measuring 5 x 8. Brayer over the with the Teresa Green, Granny Smith and
Toad Hall paints using the Snowflake to soften where needed until happy. Take
another piece of card and do the same using the Wisteria and Purple Rain, again
using the Snowflake to soften until happy. Take another piece of card and do
the same with just the Tinned Peas and Granny Smith paints until happy. Stamp
the flowers onto the purple card and the leaves onto the green card and cut out
all the pieces. Put these aside for later.
Stamp Bentley onto smooth white card.
Do the same with the butterflies and the dreamy cloud. Colour all the images
with the Spectrum Noir markers and cut them out.
Take the 5 x 8 tag and the 8 x 8
stencil and brush over with the Mowed Lawn Distress ink. Stamp Bentley and the
dreamy cloud onto the tag. I always like to do this so that any tricky parts
that are difficult to cut out will be there once the image is glued into place,
it also allows you to work out where you need to stamp or place other elements.
Take the Dinky Circles and blend through randomly with spun sugar. Take the Dinky
Distressed Harlequin stencil and blend through randomly with Pine Needles. Take
the word happy and stamp randomly using the Wilted Violet Distress Oxide. The
background is now complete and ready to glue Bentley and all the flowers,
leaves and butterflies into place.
Glue Bentley into place using the multi
purpose adhesive. Stamp the word dreamy onto the cloud and glue into place.
Mount the card onto a piece of black card and then mount onto a piece of green
card. The piece can now be mounted to a piece of strong white card leaving an
inch at the top. Round off the corners and punch a hole for the ribbon. It's
best to do this before gluing on the flowers as they will overlap the edge of
the finished piece.
Use the glue gel to glue all the flowers,
leaves and butterflies into place. Stamp the wording using a mask to stamp the
two lines separately. Cut them out and glue into place. Die cut the
reinforcement holes and glue into place and thread the ribbon through. Using
another piece of ribbon, make a bow and glue into place.
All for now.
Much love,
Bev. x

Summery delights from start to finish Bev, I don't think it really matters whether Boy or Girl, i'm sure they would both enjoy the pleasure of being amongst and smelling those flowers. A beautiful handmade tag.. Hugs Tracey xx
