Dreamer of Dreams by Donna Gray

Hi everyone,

Donna here today with another creation I made for the Hochanda show, using a GiganTAG ….how I love creating on these.

What to do:

I used the white/greyboard tag for this so you don’t need to apply Gesso (unless you want to of course), I used an opaque Fresco paint as that does such a good job of covering everything.

Here’s where you grab the That’s Crafty! stencils and have fun! The ‘Tina’ stencil had Grunge Paste spread through it, dried thoroughly and then a coating of shimmer paint in Pearl was applied.

A quick couple of spritzes of a Lindy’s Stamp Gang spray was then used, I allowed the spray to drip down as you can see.

Now start adding some more stencilling, the black you can see is Distress Ink and the white is embossing with a white powder, after dabbing a Versamark ink pad through the stencils.

The clock and feathers were entirely painted with the new That’s Crafty! Shimmer and Metallic Paints, these are unbelievable the effects you get with them.

The middle of the clock was stamped with a That’s Crafty! texture stamp with black Archival ink.

I got a great tip from one of my lovely teamies, Tracey, who uses little beads in her art. These are called nail caviar, I think, and come in all different colours. These were adhered to the feathers to give even more dimension.

Finishing touch is to wrap the ribbon around the feathers, with a little glue to keep the ends in place and then tie them to the rim of the clock. Adhere everything to the tag and then add a Tim Holtz sentiment.

I only wish I could capture all the sparkle and shimmer in a photograph!!

  7. Wow! Such a dramatic background, and such dreamy elements in the foreground. I love how her hair is floating about in the breeze, echoing the feathers of the dreamcatcher - lovely colours too.
