One Can Never.............. by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone

I have another art journal project for you this week, this time in my Art by Marlene art journal.
Art journaling is great to just dip in and out of when time is against you but you need to get, at least a little, crafty fix into your week.

Here's What I Did:

I started by laying some acrylic paint down onto the pages using a piece of Cut & Dry Foam, blending the colours together. I then stencilled through the circular stencil, again using acrylic paint, this time in a Turquoise. I then doodled around each stencilled piece using a white Posca pen.

I then masked around the circle using some post it notes and stamped the foliage into the circle and then stamped again onto a piece of white card just the part with the single flower on, this I then cut out and coloured red and pieced it over the stamped image on my page.

I wanted to emphasise the circle so stitched around it several times using my sewing machine. To emphasise the circle more I blended around it using a Scribble Stick and blending the colour out using a damp finger. I wanted to create the look of clouds around the circle as if you were high up in the sky looking through a gap in the clouds down at the land below
I added some doodling around both the circle and the edges of the pages using a black fineliner. I felt it just needed something else so stamped the 'be free' bird flight stamp.

The last thing was to stamp the words onto a piece of scrap white card and cut out and glue onto my page.

  1. Fabulous detail on here Amanda and I had to look twice too as the circlular centre looks as if it's a separate element. Amazing!

  2. Fabulous journo pages, Amanda. Love the moody atmospheric background that makes for a ideal setting for your brighter central circle of detailed art.
