Seahorse ATC Stack by Anne Redfern

11:00

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have Anne Redfern joining us as a guest designer and we'd like to wish Anne a very warm welcome!

Hello!  My name is Anne Redfern (or Redanne as I am known in blogland) and I am thrilled and honoured to have been asked by Laura to be a Guest Designer for three months. Thank you Laura!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and you are getting ready to let the New Year in.

My first project uses a That's Crafty! ATC Stack. I have a few steps to share with you.
The ATC Stack comes in four pieces, three of these are clear acrylic and they have a protective coating which you need to remove before you start.

I painted the base of the stack with Prima Finnabair Art Alchemy Paints in Blue Green and Teal Blue. I mixed a little of 13 Arts Magic! Powder into the Teal Blue paint and applied this through a That's Crafty! Dinky Bubbles Stencil to create a bubble effect. The Magic Powder mixes with paint to create a wonderful texture paste, with a hint of a sheen.

Next, I stamped onto the thickest acrylic piece with Black StazOn ink (a nice juicy pad helps) with the Seahorse stamp by Olga Heldwein for AALLandCreate and then used Dina Wakley Heavy Body Paints in Turquoise, Lemon and Lime on the back of the stamped acrylic. Painting on the back means you do not have to be so careful within the lines!

Here is a view of the completely painted seahorse. Using the larger of the acrylic pieces gives an almost 3D appearance to the seahorse.

To finish off I had some random foliage left over from Christmas and I painted these in the same colours of paint as the seahorse, and added one to each layer along with some gold Mica Flakes to create my sea floor.  Finally, I attached all the pieces together with the four bolts that are supplied with the ATC kit.

Thanks so much for your visit, I hope to see you again next Monday.  All that remains is for me to say is, I wish you a Very Happy New Year!

Crafty Wishes,  Anne  xx

  4. What a fabulous stack, Anne - your seahorse looks amazing, all shimmering and dimensional (a great trompe l'oeil) and I love the sparkly mica seabed too. Interesting to see the magic powder in action - I've got some to play with, but have other stuff on my plate at the moment! Great to see you here as a Guest Designer, and I'm looking forward to more.
