Happy Christmas by Helen Chilton

11:00

I got so involved making this shrine/shadow box that I forgot to take photos, but even though it's detailed it's easy to make and is now standing on my mantelpiece looking very festive!

The box comes as an MDF kit so you can work on each bit before assembling. I started off by stencilling onto the frame with some texture paste and putting that aside to dry. When it had dried, I painted it with the Metallic Pearl paint and then decided to add some colour with Teal, Lime and touches of Gold.

The background started off as a piece of card cut to fit the base and then I painted it with the darker Ocean Blue and stencilled on a moon in Pearl.

After that it was just a case of collecting together all the Christmassy greyboard Bits and Pieces that I wanted to use. I always gesso the whole A4 sheet before popping them out as this is a lot quicker. Then I give them a basic paint and then use coloured pencils to add details. I finish with a black pencil to add shadow and a white paint pen for highlighting.

After that, add a bit of Stickles glitter and stick it all together.

May I wish you all a happy Christmas and New Year!

Helen
