It's All Blue by Debs Wainwright

00:00

Good Morning everyone, Debs here, and this week I'm sharing a birthday card for someone with whom I work. I don't know her very well, so used pale colours and flowers. You cannot really go wrong with flowers so hopefully she will like it.

Here's what I did

My background was created by puffing some pigment powder on to water mixed media paper and spritzing with water and dried with a heat gun. I the spritzed and flicked (first seen by Tim Holtz) and allowed the drips to sit for a while.

I rolled some kitchen roll over the card and then dried with heat gun to expose where the colour has been removed by the water.

The background was finished by using all three good wishes stamps from Emma Godfrey Minis. These stamps come with three lines of birthday wishes. You separate them to have 3 individual greetings but I kept them together and with a light blue permanent ink lightly stamped over the background. I also added more visual texture with stamps from the teasel plate.

I love the thistle stamp and used a repetition in black permanent ink, of 3 the create my focal point. I coloured the thistle using water soluble crayon. Before adhering the background to the matting I attached some ribbon. The card was assembled and bling added the flowers; the sentiment finished the card.

What I used

Ribbon and pearls from my stash

I had a time when I found it really difficult to make cards. I just couldn't find inspiration, but learning to play with backgrounds has helped, and now quite enjoy it.

Take care as always
