Coins, Coins and a Holder by Anne Redfern

11:00

Hello everyone!

My Guest project this week is a That's Crafty! Artist Trading Coin holder and lots of ATCoins.

That's Crafty! Artist Trading Coin holders are large - 15" tall by 7.3/4" wide, so there is lots of space to show off the coins.

Here's how I made the holder and coins:

1)  Take three colours of acrylic paint (I used Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paint) and apply randomly to the base and both sides of the shelves, with a brayer.
Tip: leave the little wooden shelf slot pieces in place when you apply the paint, the shelves will then fit perfectly in place.
2)  Add some splatters in the same three colours and some marks using an old credit card.
3)  Mix Embossing Paste with some coloured ink or paint to match your brayered background and apply the paste through a stencil.

4)  Glue in the shelves and set aside whilst you make your coins.

5)  Using a Dnky stencil draw through with a fine marker pen, remove the stencil and colour the image in your chosen colours (I used watercolour paints throughout).
6)  Paint the scooters
7)  Apply embossing ink to the coins and the scooters and emboss with clear embossing powder.  Do the coin bases once and the scooters twice to give a lovely gloss finish.

8)  Stamp the images and colour with your chosen medium(s).
9)  Emboss in the same way as the previous coins.

10)  For the last set of coins, use different colours of Distress Inks to colour the base of the coins.
11)  Apply Ultra Thick Gel Medium through your chosen stencil(s) and leave to dry.
12)  Apply Black Soot Distress Ink over the whole of the coins and wipe off the Ink from the embossed areas.  This is a technique I learned from Design Team Member, Amanda Southern, it is a great technique, thank you Amanda!

13)  Stamp sentiments and add to the coins.

If you enjoy making Artist Trading Coins, That's Crafty! Stamp Set 11 has an ATC backing included in the set, which is the perfect size for the standard 2.1/2" coins, along with lots of single words to make up your own sentiments - such a time saver!

Products I used:

Wycinanka chipboard - I purchased the scooters from That's Crafty! on Hochanda
but you can see more in the range HERE.

Thanks so much for your visit, I'll see you again next week!

Crafty wishes,  Anne xx
