They Carry Secrets On Their Wings by Bev Hilton

Hello. Bev here with my first post here on the blog today. I have to say it's been an exiting few weeks since joining the team and I've had great fun using the products which are awsome. So here goes...

Here's what I used...

That's Crafty! Dinky Stencils - Leaves TC086, Robin TC058, Bubbles TC005
Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paint - Magenta, Lime, Ocean, Lapis, White, Orange
Distress Inks - Peeled Paint, Black Soot
Stitched Rectangle Die by Sue Wilson
Book page

Here's what I did...

I began by cutting a 7x8 inch piece of smooth white card stock with the stitched die. I chose my colours...Ocean, Lapis, Lime, Magenta and White.

Using the brayer, I layered them over the card stock until I was happy with the look. I took the leaves and blended through with the peeled paint at random spots and did the same with the circles using the orange paint.

I stamped the feather from the Textures stamp set with the magenta ink in a couple of places and then took a lid from a can and used it with the magenta paint to create the large circles. Now happy with my piece I took the Robin stencil and decided on the placement and blended through with the Black Soot Distress ink. I then used the same stencil to draw round onto a book page twice. I cut these out and glued them onto my card. I needed to ground two of the birds so I took the Time stencil and blended through the circle element with the orange paint. I then used the black fine liner to drawer round to make that part stand out. I took the torn book page element from the same stencil and lined it up against the left side edge of my card and used the Black Soot to create the edge. Lastly I wanted some white highlights so took the circle stencil and the white Posca pen and used the smallest circles to create the small white dots. I felt the birds didn't stand out as intended so I covered each bird with the negative from the Robin stencil and softly blended a shadow around each bird using Black Soot. I stamped my wording onto smooth white card stock and cut it as I didn't want it all on one line. I edged these with Black Soot and glued them into place.

Now happy, I mounted my piece onto a matching piece of orange card stock and then mounted onto my white card base.
