Spread Your Wings by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
Hope your weekend went with a bang!! Today for my piece I would like to share with you a ‘Happy Accident’ don’t you just love it when that happens. My happy accident is the background that I have used for this card.

Here’s What I Did:-

I started by playing with the 6” round Gelli Plate and I was printing by braying acrylic paint onto the plate, laying a stencil on it and removing the paint from the open spaces of the stencil onto a piece of scrap paper before I then layered my prints on top of each other. I was mostly using an alphabet stencil for this. I ended up with a layered circular print but I actually liked the scrap paper I used to remove the paint more than I actually liked the layered circular print (that I will save for another day) so used the scrap for the background of this card.

I then stamped the large background stamp using Versamark and heat embossed with detail black embossing powder as I needed it to be really bold against the vibrant background. I then stamped the bird 3 times, again with black embossing powder and then cut them out. For those of you old enough to remember I wanted to create a pseudo mural reminiscent of Hilda Ogdens Flying ducks. The birds have been glued using 3D gel to lift them off the page. I stamped the sentiment and cut out to add to the card.
Matted onto black card and added to an 8” x 8” card bank.

Here’s What I Used:-

Hope you like it and see you next week
