A Bit of Bling by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!
I have a rather glittery piece of mixed media artwork to share today which features a technique I experimented with on MDF with Flat Matte sprays to see what would happen if you just sprayed the surface directly.
I began by decorating the top section of the MDF square Upright shape which I simply misted with several shades of Flat Matte sprays - I used Basil, Redwood, Saffron and Walnut. It took a couple of goes to get the effect I wanted and I let the sprays dry in between coats as if you do that, the resulting shades are much stronger.
I then took my favourite fern stencil (I have a weakness for anything leafy!) and applied patterned areas using the amazing Holographic 3D Gel Medium which as you'll see in the photo, dried to a fabulous glittery green due to the dark under surface.
I next stamped 3 sets of Melina's Bubbles and Flowers image on white smooth cartridge paper and heat embossed the black ink I used with clear embossing powder. I coloured the flower heads in bright shades for a good contrast against the darker background, using Lilac, Rose and Tomato Flat Matte sprays and the leaves were painted with Basil, Saffron and Walnut. I then fussy cut the images out of the background.
I misted the base of the Upright with shades matching the top and added a little pattern as before with the fern stencil and the Holographic Gel Medium. I glued the top to the base and stuck the flowers in place, trimming off one flower on the red and pink sprays to add at the front to give a bouquet effect.
I finished off with a plaque coloured with Lilac and Rose Flat Matte sprays then stamped with a favourite quote which was heat embossed.
Supplies:
Smooth White Cartridge Paper
Have a great and hopefully crafty weekend and see you next week.
