Fairy Garden by Samantha Read

Hello! I'm Sam and I'm a stamp-a-holic lol... I was trying to explain to someone the other day about my love of stamps and stamping, it's an addiction I have been enjoying for 10 years or more and along my stamping journey I have found other little addictions, such as houses, (house stamps or shapes), the moon and starts, (again stamps or shapes), floral stamps are also popular in my art studio and cute, whimsical images like this fairy bear just melt my heart, so how could I not combine some of my favourite things.

I created this back in July or August as you can probably tell by the leaves so it's a pleasure to share it with you now whilst looking forward to Spring.

What I did

I began by adding texture to the roof using a stencil and Texture Sand Paste, a couple of coats of white gesso all over followed by Silver Metallic Paint. Then one of my favourite techniques: I covered the whole thing with a 50/50 solution of water and PVA glue, not a thin layer but not too thick either because then I lightly painted over the top of the wet water/glue mixture. Teal on the roof and Lavender on the front, back and sides, as the paint and glue dries crackles appear giving you a peek of the colour beneath.

The fairy bear was stamped on plain white card and coloured with Prismacolour pencils and the house was decorated with flowers, gems, tiny mdf hearts, star sequins, sticky pearls and washi tape from my stash.

To finish my fairy bear house I added some wings. I made these by shaping some wire into wing shapes and using PVA glue and tissue paper I sandwiched the wire between tissue paper and applied glue all over. When dry I removed the excess tissue paper from the edges, a couple of coats of white gesso and then some more Silver Paint and some glitter glue for extra sparkle.

What I used

TandiArt Stamp Set ID45 for the fairy bear character
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paint I used Lavender and Teal for the house. Lime, Teal mixed with Bright Blue and Christmas Red for the flowers
(Extras: Wooden house, Tim Holtz Heirloom Flowers, wire, tissue paper, gems, tiny mdf hearts, star sequins, sticky pearls and washi tape)

I do hope you like it, thank you for looking and I wish you a lovely day, Sam
