Grunge Star..... by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone
Welcome to my Thursday weekly post!
I'm seem to be going through a 'grungy art panel phase' so I hope you won't mind that I have another one to share with you today.
The Background Panel
The background panel is a That's Crafty! MDF 6x6 surface- these are top quality, very affordable and make for an excellent solid surface to create on.
I primed the panel with gesso and then brayered a selection of PaperArtsy fresco Finish paints to add colour. These paints have a drying time of 'now' so there's no waiting around or need to heat dry between each layer of brayer colour(generally!!) I then used a wet wipe to apply and blend in a translucent fresco paint working mainly around the sides of the panel. The translucent properties of the paint allow an extra colour tone to be added without losing or covering the colours already laid down.
For a little extra detail I added some light stamping using Archival ink with a couple of stamps from one of Seth Apter Eclectica stamp sets. By working lightly the stamped impressions have a kind of 'ghosting' quality- not at first obvious but if you look closer.......
The Focal Feature
I crackled a That's Crafty! 4in round using crackle paste and treated it to some light colouring using a few of the Fresco paints. The paint was applied by finger and wiped back with a wet wipe
I stenciled a That's Crafty! ATCoin using That's Crafty! Texture Paste through one of their Dinky stencils. Once dry I painted around the Texture Paste and lightly caught the top of the textured design with both paint and gilding wax.
I also heat embossed a Seth Apter die cut using a couple of Seth's Baked Texture embossing powders. This was sandwiched between the two rounds to complete the stacked arrangement.
To finish off the focal feature I added some metal hardware bits and pieces that I have in my stash
The stacked layers give the finished panel some good dimension
