Moments of Magic - A Tag by Fliss Goodwin
11:00Hello! The summer hot weather is still here so this week I have a very summery tag to share featuring one of those lovely flowers that always shout summer to me so I felt I had to include one on my collaged style background.
Step by Step
I took a large white/greyboard tag to which I added pieces of torn vintage music score from my bits box, brushing on with matte medium. I then used the honeycomb stencil to add a pattern in places with light texture paste.
I painted the background with a mix of lime and teal multi surface paints, brushing with a damp paintbrush after applying the colours to remove some from the music score areas to add interest and texture.
I then made a decorated panel using the oval left over from my tree stump shrine of last week. I used the distressed harlequin Dinky stencil with texture paste to add a pattern. As the panel is MDF, I gave it an undercoat of white gesso then added a coat of teal multi surface paint. Once it was dry, I drybrushed white on the raised areas and round the edges.
I stamped my sunflower on mixed media paper with Archival jet black ink then coloured the image with my Zig clean color marker pens. I cut the image out and used a large embossing ball tool to shape the flower head and the leaves. I glued this to the panel with 3D glue and added the decorated panel to the tag with the same glue. I brushed a little mustard yellow multi surface paint around the edges to break up the green areas a little.
I stamped my chosen text on a scrap of stencilled paper from my bits box then cut the quote into word tiles, attaching them to the tag with craft glue. I finished off with a piece of toning torn sari silk ribbon.
