Fred Kahlo by Donna Gray

Today is a very sad day for us here at That's Crafty! as Donna is leaving our DT and this is her last blog post for us. Donna is one of our longest serving DT members and we will miss her very much.
We'd like to thank Donna for everything she has done for us while on our DT and wish her all the very best for the future.
Hi everyone,
Today is a really sad day for me as this is my last post for That's Crafty! as I shall be stepping down at the end of this month after three and a half fantastic years.
I'd like to take this opportunity to give the biggest thanks I can to Laura and Graham for making such wonderful products, my talented teamies for always being so supportive and fun to work with and finally all you kind people out there who have left me such lovely comments on my creations over the years.
Now onto the actual creation and as it's my last one I just had to use Fred...it would have been rude not to. This is no ordinary Fred though...this is Fred channelling his inner Frida Kahlo...oh yes :)
What I did:
I sprayed a manilla size 8 tag with a Flat Matte spray in yummy Orange, I love these sprays so much. Once that was done it was the fun part gathering loads of stamps together and stamping them all on Strathmore Mixed Media paper with black Archival ink and then colouring them in with Distress Markers in the brightest colours.
I gave Fred a monobrow to reflect his Frida status, some eyelashes and added some flowers to his 'hair'. The big flower and paintbrush were hand carved but I'm sure you can find a suitable substitute for them if you don't have them in stamp form.
I fussy cut everything out (yes it was enjoyable actually) and attached little foam pads on the back of them all before adding them onto the tag background.
As a finishing touch I just had to add one of Lynne's beautiful Affirmations as of course that was so apt for this creation! I then mounted the tag onto black card and considered it finished.
I actually might add a piece of twine to this and have it hanging in my craft room to inspire Fred when he is creating of course ha ha.
