Marina’s Treasure Trove by Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, I’m so excited to finally be able to share with you all the first of my creations with Donna’s gorgeous new Deep Sea Divas stamps. I was beyond thrilled to have the chance to work with these versatile stamps, especially Marina who brings back memories of my childhood and my favourite animation show, Stingray.

Ingredients:

DecoArt Media Acrylic Paints – Blue Green Light, Cobalt Teal Hue, Green Gold, Yellow Green Light
Stickles Glitter Glue – Jade, Lime Green, Lavender
Shimmering Watercolour Paints such as Prima Watercolour Confections Shimmering Lights
Extras – Iron On Hemming Web, Sequins, Beads, Gems, Glass Pebbles, Netting (mine was from a pack of lemons), scraps of Gelli prints, iron, non-stick paper

Recipe:

Paint the MDF upper and base with the green and blue paints, applying in rough streaks down the surface until it is covered. Rub some paint around the edges too for a nice finish.

The next step is to paint the hemming web (this is like Bondaweb) which I did by placing strips on a piece of foil as the paint seeps through.  You may find you need to move it around a little to make sure it is covered with paint. Leave to dry, and then peel off.

Tear the painted web up a little and then iron on to the upright section with non stick paper on top, making sure that you don’t have the steam setting on! Once you have done this, peel back the paper and sprinkle some sequins on the areas covered with webbing. Replace the paper and iron again. When you peel off the paper, the sequins will be stuck to the webbing.

Stamp Marina – masking off her seahorse - on mixed media paper with the black ink and colour her with the watercolour pencils and paints. When dry, paint her hair with the purple glitter glue, adding some to her fishy tail as well. Cut her out. Next stamp the seahorse and a starfish on scraps of Gelli print with the black ink and cut them out.

Assemble the panels by first gluing the upright section into the base. Next add the netting by putting dots of silicone glue around the bottom of the upright then wrap the netting round and secure at the back with more glue. Apply a mix of pearls, beads, gems and glass pebbles to the base with silicone glue.

Glue Marina to the panel together with a seahorse and starfish then finish off the creation by adding streaks of glitter glue and some small gems. As you’ll see, the gems and sequins look a bit like water bubbles and they add some lovely bling too.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.
