The Doorway by Amanda Southern

I have another card this week featuring some of the new stamps and stencils from PaperArtsy along with some old favourites.

Here’s What I Did:-

As always I start by making my background which is Distress inks applied to inkable card. I then lightly sprayed some water onto it and then removed the water by rolling a roll of kitchen roll over it. I then built up my background. I stamped the row of numbers over the Distress ink background using only water, let it sit there a few seconds and then rolled my kitchen roll over to remove the diluted ink. You can never be sure of the result you get but you can see this straight down the middle of my card, the others are more subtle.

You can see the effect the water has on this close up,
the splashes and the water stamping.

I then stamped on the door using Ranger Cool Graphite dye ink pad, I didn’t use black as I wanted a slightly more softer look. I then stamped the door again onto a Post It note using the ink left on the stamp, cut out and used as a mask to then stencil the face using distress ink. I added some background stamped details also in Distress ink. I then stencilled on some numbers, using what I am sure is going to become a favourite new Dinky stencil. I then stamped the large flower using Archival Watering Can and coloured using coloured pencils. I repeat stamped the sentiment around the card. At this point I felt it still needed something, so to bring in more of the green from the stem of the flower I added further stencilling again using one of the new releases from PaperArtsy. I then double matted my image, firstly onto black and then a green that matched the green in my image.

What I Used:-

Distress Inks – Wild Honey, Pumice Stone, Weathered wood, Hickory Smoke & Peeled Paint
Kitchen Roll
PaperArtsy Hot Picks Stamp Sets – HP1605 & HP1601 (Door, numbers, sentiment)
PaperArtsy Hot Picks Stamp Set 1205 for the flower but lots of others available from PA range
PaperArtsy EEV06 Eclectica (from my stash)

Hope you like it and I’ll see you next week
Love
