'Never Forget, Maybe Someday .... by Amanda Pink

Hello Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday weekly post of Creativity.
This week I've taken a break from the painted layers and texture and have instead designed and created a piece of 'Art on the Round' using paper by 13Arts, accents of paint and some of my own 'stylised' embellishment touches.

The substrate I have chosen to work on is a That's Crafty! 8 inch MDF round. It is the largest size round currently available and can be purchased as a multi-pack that contains 15 rounds -5x8inch, 5x6 inch and 5 x4inch.  That's Crafty! MDF surfaces are fantastic quality and very well priced.
I primed the MDF round with a couple of coats of white gesso to provide some tooth for better paper adhesion and to enable me to see my design/ layout markings easier.
Here's my design layout but please note this was designed to my preferred measurements, you can of course work to whatever measurements you wish.

My paper of choice was one called 'Ticket Master' designed by Fiona Paltridge for 13Arts. This paper is sold in A4 sheet and is smooth to the touch. It is extremely affordable and can be purchased in a few different designs which you can see here.
I cut the paper into pieces in accordance with my marked out design and adhered them in place cutting away the excess with scissors. I then sanded back any remaining overhanging paper with a nail file/ fine grain sand paper. I also gently rubbed the sand paper over the paper surface before sealing with matte medium.

I then played around with a few ideas to embellish and enhance my design, one of which was bamboo skewers. I laid out the skewers following my initial design/ layout, cut / broke to size, painted them with buff acrylic paint and adhered in place. I also applied buff acrylic paint to the circumference of the round.

The focal feature is the sum of five stacked circles of gradually decreasing size.
- the base layer is a That's Crafty! 4in Greyboard round, primed with gesso and painted with acrylic paint. I also applied Distress Crayon around the circumference and blended it into the centre with a dampened finger.
- the second layer is a Tim Holtz die cut stitched circle treated with distress crayon to highlight the stitched detail.
- the third and fifth layers are multi stacked die cut circles covered with 'Ticket Master' paper and caught with acrylic paint around the circumferences.
- the fourth layer is a die cut corrugated card circle which is painted with Buff acrylic paint and treated with Distress Crayon along the corrugations.
To embellish I altered a Tim Holtz Ideology number using acrylic paint and Distress Crayon.

I added were some 'word' stickers

a few more pieces of painted skewers,

some eyelets,

some much loved paint splatters

Circle Dies
Die Cutting Machine
Paper Trimmer/Guillotine
Pencil
Sand Paper/Nail File
Bamboo Skewers
Eyelets

I hope you have enjoyed your time here with me today and that maybe my creativity has offered some inspiration .
Thanks for taking the time to stop by .
Wishing you a great week and hope to see you again next week..... same time, same place.
Take Care
