There is Nothing Like a Dream by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone

For todays post from me I have a canvas for you, a very long canvas, this piece has been created on a 15” by 4” canvas.

Here’s what I Did:-

The first thing was to prep the canvas with gesso which helps the canvas take the paint better. I then chose a selection of colours of PaperArtsy Fresco paint and painted them on blending one into the other, working over with a large paintbrush where each colour joins so they look like they are blended in together. I then stencilled the dots using black Archival ink.

I then used some corrugated cardboard from an old box and die cut the winged ring and fly circle. I roughly painted with a touch of gesso and then sprayed with Dylusion sprays and Dylusions mica spray. These die cuts were to be my dream catcher. I filled the centre of my dream catcher with a stamped image coloured with spectrum noir pencils. I then set about making all my feathers. I randomly smeared, the same colours of paint that I used on my canvas, onto a piece of thick card. Over this I then stamped several times each of the feathers. Then came the ‘Fun’ part, not!! Cutting them all out.

Once they were all cut out, and several cups of tea later, I needed to have them all hanging from the dream catcher. I chose a fancy piece of fibre and added it to the top by threading through some eyelets that I had added. The sentiment I added was a Tim Holtz Chit Chat sticker. To add a touch of bling I roughly added some pink foil to the edges in places using tacky glue, this doesn’t really show up on the photo but it really catches the light.

I have included photo’s of each half which when clicked on will hopefully show more of the detail.

What I Used:-

15” x 4” Canvas from my stash
Corrugated Card
Dylusions Sprays – Bubblegum Pink, CalaypsoTeal
Dylusions Mica Sprays (used the pink)
Carabelle Studio Stamps:- Plumes & La Femme aux Oiseaux
Fibres from my stash

Hope you like it and I’ll see you all same time next week

Love
Amanda X
