Hi everyone,

Donna here today with a Gelli print background card…..about time to make use of them!

What To Do:

Take various colours of DecoArt paints, apply to the 6x6 Gelli Plate.

Take a round, small bottle top and randomly impress into the paint to get the circles you see here.

Using the ‘inner part’ of the Crafters Workshop stencil as a mask, place on Gelli Plate, apply paper and press down firmly to get the print.

Leave print to dry naturally then take Dina’s scribbly writing stamp, apply twice within the masked image, stamping over the stencil without the mask part of course.

Next, stamp using a couple of the Crafters Companion Texture stamps including the word ‘calm’ on the centre of the image.

There you have a colourful card and a use for all the mass of Gelli prints we all have!!

Hi there, this week I have a quick and easy card to share perfect for the boys in your life as I fell in love with the gorgeous new Tim Holtz Sideshow stamps. They’re beautifully collage in style so it doesn’t need much else to make a great card.

Ingredients:

Tim Holtz Cling Stamp Set – Sideshow

Archival Cobalt Ink

Brusho Crystals – Lemon, Scarlet, Cobalt Blue, Sandstone

Barn Door Distress Ink

White Stamping Paper

Water Mister

Ink Applicator

Recipe:

Cut a piece of stamping paper to fit your chosen card blank or you could do as I did and make a whole sheet so that you have some to use on other projects – good huh?

The first step is to sprinkle the sandstone Brusho Crystals all over and mist with water. I then let the paint run until the sheet was roughly covered. I then added a little blue and red, misted again and let the colours run, blotting some with a paper towel.

I cut a piece of the coloured paper for my card blank and stamped the running wheel image roughly in the centre with the cobalt ink.

I next sprinkled more of the red, blue and also yellow Brushos on the paper and misted them gently with water to give the paper added interest.

Ink around the edges of the paper with the Distress ink and stick on to the card blank. Finish off with a sticker from the book – I distressed mine a little with pastel pencils.

Good morning everyone! Debs with you today and I'm sharing one of my girls. She has been around for a few days pestering me to paint her, until I finally had some time, and here she is. She looks to me as if she is deep in thought. I wonder what about?

This is what I did

Using a splatter page in my journal, I painted a rough shape where my head and body were going to be, then with a selection of stencils created a bold background. Building layers using similar colours against contrasting ones, in a combination of greens and blues as well as reds and dark pinks until there was enough depth. You can see in this photo, the layer below, which was pigment powders activated with a Pearl mica spray.

The face was painted with a chalk acrylic and water soluble pencils blended together to provide highlights and shadows.

Using a dark brown pencil, I drew in the features keeping them simple, blending and adding colour as I built up her features with tones. Her eyes were brought to life by giving them colour, as was her mouth. I continued to add shadows and highlights and sketch in her hair.

I finished her her using a gloss finish acrylic paint for her hair with a black crayon blended to add shadows in her hair and body.

Here's what I did...

1. I began by using the Prima silicone brush and matte medium to adhere torn book pages to the MDF board. I added a thicker layer of matte medium to seal them, and used the texture end of one of Finnabair's brushes to add some texture in the matte medium before drying with a heat gun.

2. Next, I used a palette knife to apply DecoArt Crackle Paste through the Pebbles Background Dinky Stencil in a few random places, then left this to dry naturally for a few hours.

3. Once the crackle paste was dry, I unscrewed the lids of the Yellow Green and Turquoise Shimmer misters, used the straw to apply the liquid acrylic to the top of the board, spritzed with water, and allowed it to drip down.

4. Using black Archival ink, I stamped the lace at the top left and the bottom right of the board, and on some of the edges. I didn't want a perfect image, I just wanted to add a bit of border and textural interest.

5. I painted a manila tag with a light layer of white gesso, then stamped the main image near the top in black. I stamped the lace around the image, and over the rest of the tag, not re-inking to get a softer stamping on the lower part of the tag. I tore the lower part off, and adhered the top main image to the left side of the board.

6. I inked up the main image stamp again, and placed the remnant of my tag over the words part a couple of times to get another set of words, and the woman's lips. I cut these out and glued them to the board. I used a soft black pencil to add some shade around the images and words.

7. I sprayed a tiny amount of Turquoise Shimmer and Magenta Mister on my craft mat, added a little water, then painted the lips and some of the words. I flicked some of the Magenta over the board by tapping the mister straw, and inked the edges with black archival ink to finish.

Hi Everyone

I have a tag for you this week that uses some more of the recently released Tim Holtz stamps and stencils, all available from That’s Crafty!

What I Did:-

I have used a No.8 size tag that I had previously used to clean up diluted Lindys Stamp Gang Powders. I then set about building the background interest up stamping and stencilling with Distress inks so it all had a softer appearance.

The next layers of stamping I wanted to be in a stronger colour so used a Ranger Dye Ink Pad. I wanted both the circles and numbers to be irregular so didn’t add them to an acrylic block I just inked them up and with the stamp just bent around in my hand, just rolled the stamp onto the tag.

The final stamping was the main image, which is from Tim Holtz new ‘Sideshow’ set (likely to become another favourite of mine). The finishing touches to the tag include some of Tim’s washi tapes, very random stitching and my words ‘Let Go’.

Moira here today with a fuss free card.

1. Stamp the two images from the stamp set in Versamark, add black embossing powder and heat set.

2. Spread Modelling Paste through the stencil under the bird wings and leave to dry.

3. Spray the 2 Starburst stains over-lapping in the centre so they blend and allow to dry – don’t heat set as this will affect the stamped and embossed images.

4. Add a smear of the Metallic Lustre to the “screwheads”.

5. Mat onto black card and then a 7 x 7 card blank.

This week I paired a That’s Crafty! MDF heart with a Prima Relic and Artifact.

I was too undecided, will it form a pendant, hanging, become part of a larger project such as a canvas or box so, I decided to let it be as it is, for the moment anyway. Where’s the harm on working on something like this and then letting it drift about for a while, until it either whispers in my ear or screams out loud what it’s eventual purpose will be!

ornate wooden frame, Prima Relics and Artifacts Dresden Trim Silver Scallop and Fleur - substitute with die cut painted with Pure Platinum

Note:- I worked with Ice Resin to encase the focal image but you could achieve similar results with DecoArt Media Liquid Glass. When I’ve worked with *Liquid Glass, my preference, to take the time to work in thin layers. It’s more time consuming but I’ve found the results lead to more clarity.

Instructions

Apply Gesso to MDF heart and frame, followed with the paints. Apply the same paints to the Relic and Artifact.

Randomly stamp the Messy Writing onto heart and frame followed with Metallic Glaze.

Mist all elements with Picket Fence.

Apply Claret and Moonlight to cardstock scrap. Stamp the Lynne Perrella image. Adhere to frame. Fill recess with Ice Resin or Liquid Glass. Leave to cure.

Adhere frame and Relic and Artifact to heart. Trim with Dresden Trim or die cut.
