Pretty Poppy by Donna Gray

Hi everyone,

It's Donna here today with one of the new That's Crafty! Chunkies with Poppy as the star turn ;)

What I did:

Usually with an MDF product I would apply Gesso as a base coat but as I used That's Crafty! Multi Surface paints for this I didn't need to as they cover everything in the one coat. I also now tend to paint the background while the pieces are still contained in their 'frame' and then I pop them out later when I've finished the painting and stamping as this makes it less fiddly!

This is the ATC size I'm showing you today but they come in different sizes. The paints were applied roughly with a brush as I wanted them to blend in as I didn't want them to dominate the piece after the stamping was done.

Next up was the stamping so I used the new Poppy and Daisy Collection stamp set for this which not only includes two cute dogs to choose from but also a host of fun accessories too.

Once I'd stamped the images where I wanted them I started to colour them in with a selection of Posca pens as I wanted a very opaque look to the images. Just be careful not to obliterate your stamped lines though!

Once you've finished all you need to do is glue the whole ATC together.

I really love these Chunkies as the possibilities are endless and you can also use them in totally different ways too by adding feet to them, a handle etc.

Here's some photos of the back, sides, top and bottom for you.

Amazing what you can get on an ATC isn't it?!

Hope you like it

  1. It's a marvellous combination using the Multi surface paint straight onto the MDF, gives a fab effect. Poppy is spoilt for choice with all those balls hee hee!! What a great idea to decorate all sides so differently, you now have a quirky box to display different sides depending on the day or the mood!! Love it.
