Keep Warm by Dorthe Hansen

This week of posting for That`s Crafty! we are to use some of
the new wonderful stamps, just arrived in the shop, and as something
very special, all created by members of the DT .

So I chose to use: The Freddy and Friends Collection, designed by my sweet friend
 Donna Gray.

If you don`t know Donna yet, I can tell you that it is her cute quirky cat we are seeing here.

I started with a big panel, painted it with Blue and White mixed acrylic paints
darker on to top of panel and very soft tone on the lower half.
After dry I stenciled the wonderful winter tree, using Texture Paste and also the
trunk stencil in lower left corner, plus a little snow  using Punchinella . Fred the cat, was stamped onto white tissue
paper and put aside.

The trees and trunk were all inked up, using the stencils again,
on top of the Texture Paste and I added the brown ink with a foam
applicator. Next, the lines were defined with a black fineliner.

On top I created a big wullen sky filled with snow, using left over papers,
crumpled together, adhered to panel and painted white and bluish.

Also the same was done in the bottom panel to give the trees a ground to rest on and
pieces of real bark from my stash were adhered under trees and stamen.
The cat was then adhered to sit on top of the trunk and was painted blue eyes,
red ears and rusty top and chest. No wonder he looks angry with only a fishbone dangling in the wind! :-)

Fishbone, Keep Warm and Snow were stamped onto an old piece
of book page and black was added to the perimeters. They were all
adhered to cardstock, and then adhered to the panel. Snow falling created with the buttom of a pencil dipped into white acrylic paint , and  brown ribbon
from my stash makes a hanger for this wintery piece!!

Thank you for following me to the end of this post, I wish you
a great new week - here we hope for less snow, we have enough now :-)

Hugs and love, Dorthe

  1. Fabulous textures and colours on this project Dorthe and I just love that sweet little cat. His face is such a picture !!! Looks like he was all ready for a good night out and the snow has spoiled his spectacular grooming !!!

Hope you are keeping cosy too...it has been cold here in Scotland but not as bad as friends in the east of the country.

    TFS and best wishes

I really enjoyed using your Fred, in this winter land, but maybe I think he is a little sad, for getting wet feet, and left alone with an eaten fish , oh I felt bad doing this to him , lol.

  5. I'm glad Fred has found what seems to be the driest spot in this snowy scene, he looks very happy about that. I'm glad there is a little fish for Fred to keep his hunger at bay!! You have depicted exactly as the forecast has been Dorthe, snow snow and more snow and grounded for the weekend here. Glad to say it is now beginning to thaw.
Wishing you well.. Bug Hugs Tracey xx

  10. This is amazing Dorthe, the snowy effects are so realistic and poor Fred looks rather cold too, probably due to the look on his face as he doesn't seem to like snow!
    Just gorgeous.

It feels like Freddy could jump right out of his wintry woods and leap into my arms. His eyes are so pretty and the fishbone tag is delightful! Wishing you warm thoughts!
