Dream Mixed Media Wall Hanging by Melina Dahl
11:00
Hello!
It´s Melina here, and today I
have a mixed media wall hanging to share with you.
I started with a 6x6”
white/greyboard panel and used modeling paste through the Dream stencil (ws005). One of the large
greyboard cogs got a bit of modeling paste through one of the Dinky stencils
(tc031). I picked some small and large greyboard feathers and covered all my
pieces with a coat of white gesso. I made marks on the large feathers using the
tip of my spatula.
I painted the cog and large
feathers with charcoal shimmer paint and then wiped some of it off again with a
baby wipe.
On the panel I used Turquoise, Orange, Purple and Charcoal Shimmer Paints. I sprayed with water so they would
blend a little.
The small feathers I painted with Pale Gold Shimmer Paint and once dry I stamped on them with gray ink using the
feather stamp from Textures Stamps set 1.
I used Pale Gold Shimmer Paint on
some spots on the cog, and after that I started to assemble the dreamcatcher. I
used gold coloured wire to attach the big feathers, and multi purpose craft
adhesive to glue the small feathers down. I tied silk ribbon to the lower parts
of the cog and one small piece under the feather on the top. I also added some
lace ribbons.
I stamped on the panel with some
different stamps from Textures stamp set 1 and then added quite a lot of white
gesso on the panel.
I was not really happy with the
lack of contrast between the panel and the dreamcatcher, so I used black gesso
around the edges of the cog. From cutting the silk ribbon I got many silk
threads that I added to the panel under the cog.
