A Gentle Heart by Lynne Moncrieff

Character
Constructions stamps are all about paper dolls, in all guises but many of the
stamp sets contain some of the most beautiful sentiments. The decision to feature the sentiment from
Paris Flea No. 1, onto one of That’s Crafty’s MDF hearts, was an obvious
choice.
For
this Upright I layered various media and yet there was not even the hint of
warping!
Supplies
Infusions
Sleight Blue, Rusty Car
Charcoal
Stick
Cardstock
(scrap only)
Extras: Sandra Evertson Relics & Artifacts
Dresden Trim Stars Silver, various found papers and fabric scraps, collage

Instructions
Prepare
wing by applying paperclay into Prima mould. Once dry, snap or cut off one of the wings to use on this project.
After
applying Gesso add small areas of Grunge Paste to Upright, sprinkle Infusions,
generously misting with water. Once dry,
begin to rust. During the application of
Rust Finishes, stipple areas with Midnight and Terracotta. Dribble Titanium White Fluid Acrylic onto
Upright, misting with water, allowing to drip down Upright.
Next,
for the MDF heart, follow the above steps except, do not include Grunge Paste
or Titanium White.
For the
paperclay wing, the Dresden Trim stars and found papers, apply the Rust
Finishes.
At this
stage, all the rusted items should be lovely and rusty.
The
image I used is from a larger collage image, fussy cutting the child (I adhere
to scrap cardstock for stability). Layer
child to Upright with torn found papers and fabric scrap, adhering rusted
wing. To add the smallest of detail to
the child, I adhered a scrap of vintage lace to mimic a collar. Above the child, adhere three of the Dresden
Trim stars.
Move
the focus onto the rusted heart. Layer
rusted found papers and the stamped focal, the Paris Flea sentiment which I
stamped onto calico scrap. Form a circle
with twine, adhering to frame the sentiment, allow the twine to flow down the
Upright, eventually wrapping around child’s wrist.
Smudge
charcoal around edges of heart and child.
Pop the
Upright into the base – project is complete!
Until
next week,
Wishes
Lynne
