Spring Doorhanger by Debs Wainwright
00:00
Hello
everyone, Debs here sharing another crafty make. The week sometimes goes so
fast it's hard to catch up with what day we are on. Now that Christmas is well
and truly so last year! It's time to look forward, with Easter just round the
corner, and delicious Spring soon follow
my thoughts again turned towards flowers.
Here’s what I did
I chose
to make a door hanger as they are just the right size for a small creation, and
unlike Tags can take much more of a pounding. Also, they are handy little gifts
to give to family and friends.
I
started my background smooching green, pink and light creamy brown together. I
didn't blend the colours just brought them together or layered them.
Dried
this off and brayered over the top with white. To add some interest I stamped
script randomly in light grey ink. Still on the background, using Olive Green
ink I added some flowers.
My
focal point is the centre cluster of flowers stamped with black ink, but for
balance I added some more tiny flowers and the butterflies. Painting the
flowers white was going to give me the spring feel I was after. I gave two
coats of acrylic paint, and being opaque it hid the
detail of the flowers,
not wanting to put them back with pen, I used a black
pencil. Once dry I gave it a coat of spray sealer in gloss. As this dried the
black lines from the ink started to show through. I didn't like it, so
attempted to rescue it, which worked out okay!
I finished
off the flowers and with a white ink pen gave colour to many of the tiny
flowers. I used a black micro pen with a fine nib and outlined the flowers, to
complete it.
What I used
As I'm
writing this post I'm thinking to myself how cold I am, thoughts of Spring are
fading fast. I hope wherever you are, you are warm and cosy. Take care, I'll
see you next week!
