Don’t Forget To Fly by Fliss Goodwin

Hi
there, I have a bright and cheery art panel to share this week as I decided I
needed to dust off my Gelatos which have been sitting around unused for a while
now so they came into play to make a rainbow coloured background for my
butterfly.
Ingredients:
Turquoise
Brusho Crystals
Washi
Tape – mine is the one from a couple of weeks back made with That’s Crafty! Chevron Dinky Stencil
Recipe:
I
coloured the art panel by scribbling vertical stripes of Gelato colours on,
starting at one end with pinks, followed by orange, butterscotch, pistachio,
lime, turquoise, lavender and lilac. I then misted on a little water and spread
the colours with my fingers. You’ll find that some colours blend more easily
than others but it adds to the effect very well.
As
the panel turned out quite bright, I decided to tone it down a little. I did
this by stamping on the dotty background image from the Dina Wakley set with
the DecoArt grey paint. I love this shade of grey as quite a subtle neutral and
is much softer than white.
I
then added some of my homemade washi tape across the panel just under the
centre. If you missed how I made this it’s micro=porous tape which I coloured
with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Paint (Pyrrole Red) and added the chevron
pattern using a That’s Crafty! Dinky Stencil and DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in
Carbon Black.
I
stamped the butterfly on white stamping card with the black ink and painted it
with the turquoise Brusho Crystals – I wanted a really vibrant shade to
contrast with the background and the Brusho Crystals are perfect for that as
it’s possible to mix quite a strong shade.
I
cut the butterfly out and shaped the wings then added it to the panel with my
chosen text stickers to finish.
Have
a great weekend and see you next week.
