Steampunk Floral by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

This week I'm playing with one of the fab steampunk style MDF tags from That's Crafty! and it's been a bit of an everything but the kitchen sink type of week, as my version has a ton of lovely textures from various mediums.

Step by Step:

I chose the open cog top one from the set of 2 and first gave it a coat of black gesso. I then dabbed texture sand paste on the cog section and used a cog stencil with the same paste on the lower section.

I then painted over the top with another coat of black gesso to give a good base for the next planned steps.

I brushed crackle glaze over the lower section, even over the texture paste and left this to go tacky - it took about half an hour. I then took several shades of Multi Surface Paint - choosing Ocean, Orange and Teal and brushed the colours on with gentle downward strokes. I coloured the top by dabbing on several metallic shades of Multi Surface Paint - Green, Black, Bronze, Gold and Patina.

I created some embellishments, taking several cogs and colouring these with the same metallics plus Copper.

I stamped some of Melina's Funky Florals and leaves on white stamping card with black ink and painted them with satin inks in shades of red, yellow and orange. Once dry, they were a little bright so I brushed and dabbed them with diluted copper paint.

I assembled the tag using a mix of dimensional glue and That's Crafty! glue and finished off with text from one of Lynne's stamp sets, stamped on toning scrap paper and distressed a little.

Supplies:

Have a great weekend and see you next week.
