Hello everyone. Today’s creation is one I made a while ago for a
Hochanda show but realised I hadn’t shared it. The surface is the That’s Crafty! MDF clock – very easy to alter and comes with all the parts for a working
clock. I have seen these made into wonderful bright clocks but I chose to age
the surface using a variety of DecoArt Media fluid acrylic paints…..here are
the steps I took.
MDF Base
Stencil Matte Medium through That’s Crafty! Cogs and Clock Dinky stencils – dry (to create a
slight resist).
Cover with DecoArt Paynes Grey – slightly watered down – add a little salt.
Once dry rub away
salt.
Dry brush a
little white gesso – vertical brush strokes.
Add Transparent
Yellow Iron Oxide, Burnt Umber, Quinacridone Gold – Vertical brush strokes.
Add a little
extra Paynes Grey/Quin. Gold around edges of clock face
Once dry add Versamark and clear emboss through the That’s Crafty! Cogs stencil.Clock hands
I lightly sanded
and added a little gilding wax.
Numbers
I painted with
black gesso and once dry added a little gilding wax.
See you next week!
Nikki
