This
week my project might appear to have an almost Halloween feel to it, she does
appear to be wearing a witchy style hat so I added the real feather into the
hat to lessen that association. She
lives deep in an ancient wood but she is not someone you should fear, she is
gentle, at one with nature allowing the branches of the old, gnarly ancient
trees to twist their way through her windows, where cobwebs intermingle with
the lace drapes.
This project
lay to one side for quite some time. I
wanted to add words but was undecided until PaperArtsy Alison Bomber stamps
fell into my lap.

peg, vintage crochet lace, natural tissue paper, feather, collage image (Red
Lead), re-cycled corrugated cardboard packaging, teabag
Instructions
Note: I
had previously prepared the greyboard leaves and acorns for the Woodland Maiden wreath. It is normal for me to prepare extras so that
I have them for future projects, a huge time saver!
Remember,
when working with the shrines, to continue the style/theme around to the side
and even the rear.
Assemble
art shrine. My preference is to then
apply Gesso, onto the shrine.Follow this by randomly applying Grunge Paste to
Brick Dinky Stencil, an irregular pattern creates more textural appearance
especially for a project which has a distressed appearance to it. Once dry, apply Infusions, misting generously
with water, allowing the stain to seep into the areas between the stencilling.
At the
same time, stain two wooden craft spools, they will become the feet to the
shrine.
Tear a
piece of re-cycled corrugated cardboard packaging. Apply Gesso to this and before it dries,
apply Infusions.
Stain
piece of vintage crochet lace with Infusions and a small fragment of lace with
Black Knight only, this will embellish her dress.
Stain
piece of found paper with tea/coffee. Leave
all to dry naturally.
Fussy
cut collage image, adhere to scrap cardstock, if required, to provide
stability. Adhere feather to her hat and
if the lace is dry, adhere to her neckline.
Begin
to assemble the shrine, adding the wooden craft spools to create feet. I lightly rolled them in Brass paint. The vintage wooden clothes peg was adhered to
bottom edge of shrine. I partially inked
up the Alison Bomber stamp, stamping onto a piece of tea-stained found
paper. The paper was still slightly
moist which allows the ink to bleed, exactly what I wanted. Layered beneath this text, a piece of natural
tissue paper stamped with the script from Textures Collection, with the stained
crochet lace embellishing all those elements.
Layer,
in the recess, the prepared corrugated cardboard, another piece of natural
tissue paper stamped with the script stamp and lace, before adhering the woman,
begin the layer the prepared greyboard leaves and acorns to the left side of
the house, draping them over the recess. Now, the woman can be settled into place.
