Hello!
Today I'm sharing the artist trading coin holder that I made for the recent Hochanda shows. I just love this gorgeous scalloped tag shape and really didn't want to part with it so Laura was rather lucky that I didn't keep it myself!
Step by Step:
This was actually a kind of go with the flow piece of artwork as I added layers of paints and sprays until I was happy with the effect.
I began by sponging white gesso over the MDF surface which I do to make sure that further layers have some 'tooth' to stick to.
I next sponged yellow multi surface paint roughly in the centre and then added bright blue around the edges. I sponged mustard yellow over the centre to deepen the colour.
At this stage I felt the background was a bit patchy so I got to work with some flat matte sprays using saffron, basil, aqua and orange to add some detail and give the background a lovely glow. I also misted on a little aqua lustre spray which adds a lovely touch of shimmer.
I then took the gorgeous background stamp from the set of stamps I was lucky enough to play with and stamped it several times with Versamark embossing ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.
Hopefully you can see the glow and shimmer better in the above close-ups.
I painted the shelves with metallic bronze multi surface paint and glued these in place with multi purpose craft glue.
Here's a photo with all the coins I created in so that you can see what it looks like when it's holding your artwork or swaps.

Have a really great weekend and I'll see you next week with some more of those artist trading coins which are starting to be addictive.
