Fragile Strength by Lynne Moncrieff

 Hello

Focals tend to be either stamped image or an element from nature, I rarely use printed collage images but I was looking for something else and Craft O'Clock Butterflies caught my eye for the reasons that there are various sizes on the sheet and what suited me the most, that most of the butterflies were muted colour palette.

A theme I return to often is fragile strength.

Supplies

Extras: Eco Dyed Paper, Prepared Cardstock

Instructions

For the longest time I had this MDF panel prepared with paper. It's something I often do, if preparing another project, I will use leftovers for another surface and then push aside until it re-surfaces.

Onto the MDF panel I adhered a sheet of prepared rice paper. It had initially some stain from drying eco dyed pieces but I added a light spray of Walnut Ink before coating the paper with Acrylic Liquid Wax.  Once dry, it was a matter of dry brushing white Gesso and then adhering to the MDF panel.

To bring dimension to the central butterfly, I reached for the ATCoins Sampler pack.

Selecting one of the ATCoins, covering with scrap cardstock already painted with Walnut Ink and Pearl Inks. Once adhered to the ATCoin, edging with black pencil before adding touches of stamping with the Eclectica EM44.

I decided to work my way through the Butterflies sheet, fussy cutting all the butterflies.  This will save time in the future for when I quickly want a butterfly for a project.  Anyway for this, I selected three butterflies I wanted for this project.

To assemble, the embellished ATCoin adhered to the panel.

To the background I add touches of the script stamp from That's Crafty Textures Collection.

When adhering the butterflies, I don't apply adhesive to the back of the wings, bending them slightly for dimension.

To the panel, I also selected two words...fragile and strength from The Language of Trees stamp set.
The final butterfly.

Around the butterfly and words, definition with a black pencil.

With the pencil, adding some written words to the panel and marks.

Fragile Strength
