A Fishy Tale by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

As we're currently in the middle of a heatwave down in the South of England I decided to share something cool. I made this fishy collage for the recent Hochanda shows which featured these rather cute fish.

Step by Step:

I covered my chosen greyboard round, the 8 inch size one with a piece of Melina's gorgeous paint pour paper, this one looking like water with seaweed floating in it.
I then used the seaweed stencil to add some fronds across the base and up the sides a little with evergreen multi surface paint. I also used the stencil on a piece of white cartridge paper with green and lime multi surface paints to create some seaweed which I then cut out.

I took the waste from the bubbles craftyboard as the pieces looked very like pebbles. I coloured these with ivory, grey and apricot multi surface paints, dabbing the colour on for a mottled effect like real pebbles.

I coloured a further piece of cartridge paper with stripes of orange and yellow paints. I stamped my chosen fish on it with black ink and cut them out. I added a bit of detail with a white Posca pen to give a bit more interest.

I added some detail to the background by stencilling some fish with midnight multi surface paint then going over the top with 3D holographic gel for some pizazz as you can see above.

I glued the "pebbles" on in layers trapping a scrap of orange netting recycled from a net of fruit underneath for added texture. I glued on my seaweed piecestuckking them under the pebbles and netting before the glue dried completely.

As you can see above, I tucked the rather fat fish under the seaweed too and made it look as if he was closing in on the tiny blue fish which are painted craftyboard from the fish and seaweed set.

I glued on my other fish to finish, topping the piece with some seaweed like ribbon from my stash which happily fit my fishy tale perfectly.
