MDF Splat Upright by Nikki Acton
00:00
Hi
everyone. I designed this MDF Splat Upright for one of the Hochanda shows at
the beginning of this year and realised I hadn’t shared it here – so here we
go.
Having
painted the surface with gesso I created an ombre effect across splat using
London Blue and Postbox Red Dylusions paint. These paints do not dry that
quickly which allowed the blending of the two colours to create the central
purple hue.
Once dry
I added contrasting colours through the Bubbly all Over stencil – introducing
Crushed Grape paint as well. I stencilled the words using the same colours of
paint (the stencils used here are some I had made, but since making this we now
have the fabulous That’s Crafty! word stencils – so these would make the perfect
alternative!)
Finally I
took another stencil – Dragonfly Flight – and initially sponged through with a
pale chalk paint and then Crushed Grape Dylusions paint. (The pale colour helps
the darker colour pop.)
See you
next week.
Nikki
