This
was a project which started its first incarnation more than one year ago, as a
mini canvas prepared with mica powders, stamping and a gathering of elements,
laid aside in a plastic bag.
When I
stumbled across the collection of items, I set myself the challenge to complete
it – it’s second incarnation… an Upright!
I used
a beautiful Character Constructions stamps. Laura does not stock this particular stamp but Laura will special order
any Character Constructions stamps.

Instructions
I
prefer to apply Gesso to the Upright but it is not necessary.
Frescos
were applied with palette knife, allowing to dry before applying Bubbles
Stencil with Grunge Paste and towards bottom edge of the actual Upright apply
Grunge Paste to Fossil stencil and also onto the base.
Once
dry, apply more of the Frescos with the addition of a lovely shimmer paint (I
will chat more about this in a future post). With an old, hard brush, I stippled Caramel and Toffee, very subtle with
more focused on the lower edge of the Upright and the base. Sprinkle Infusions, which although have a
wonderful unpredictability, try to manipulate with water, to create an effect
that provides a watery appearance. Once
dry, randomly stamp Textures Stamp onto Upright.
Apply mica powders to mini canvas. Stamp
Character Constructions sentiment onto canvas. Adhere driftwood to base of canvas before adhering to Upright, layering
with net fabric, stained muslin and starfish.
Paint
the shell with the mica powders and the shimmer/metallic paint. Fussy cut collage image. I adhered to scrap cardstock for
stability. Have her sit inside the
shell, tucking scrap of torn vintage lace for her to sit on. Stamp seaweed onto piece of mica painted
paper, fussy cut before tucking behind a starfish.
Finally,
with charcoal, create shadow around outer edge of shell, on the shell and the
canvas, continuing the shadow around the bottom areas of the Upright (not the
base).
As I
type this, the rain could not be falling any harder – it certainly is a watery
landscape but not quite the watery landscape of the Upright before me!!!!
