On seeing the new That’s Crafty! stamp set, Textures Collection Set 3, my eye was immediately drawn to the beautiful leaf. I couldn’t resist making the leaf stamp the focal for this collage, which was a sample made for recent ODS at HOCHANDA.

Extras:- Re-cycled corrugated paper, brown packing paper, Rice paper (weathered and stained from outdoors), Coconut Button, Jute Twine, Coffee Granules

Instructions

Apply brown packing paper to white/greyboard panel. Re-cycled brown packing paper is perfect because it will have some crinkles to it. When adhering to the panel, I smooth down with hands/brayer to ensure good adhesion and avoid air bubbles. To this apply light texture paste, stamping script when the panel is partially dry – washing stamp immediately after use.

Continue working with the Light Texture Paste, applying to three tags and corrugated cardboard. On the tags, create texture as you apply the paste. Onto two of the tags, adhere fragments of handmade paper, then add pieces of brown packing paper. Next, stamp leaf onto each tag. Ensure there is slight variation to each tag. Layer the trio of tags onto panel of corrugated cardboard also layering another panel of corrugated cardboard to bottom edge.

Sprinkle coffee granules onto the panel before running water, from a tap, onto the panel, dissolving the granules with your fingers. Let excess coffee run down panel or soak up excess with kitchen paper towel. Lay panel flat to dry.

Stamp Affirmation onto a naturally stained fragment of rice paper, adhering to lower corner of panel and embellishing with coconut button, with script stamped directly onto it.

Hi Everyone

I’d like to share with you today one of the pieces I made to support That’s Crafty’s first One Day Special which Launched on Hochanda last Friday evening. Laura launched many new fabulous stencils but my favourite has to be the Mandala 8” x 8” one.

Here’s What I Did:

Starting with an 8” x 8” white/greyboard panel, I gave it a quick coat of gesso. I then stencilled Light Texture Paste through the Mandala stencil and let it dry. Once dry I then painted over it all with the Teal paint. Putting the stencil back in place I then blended the different colours of paint starting in the centre with the lighter colour. I made the orange by mixing the Red and Yellow paint together. I kept layering the paint up through the stencil adding the paint with Cut and Dry Foam.

To add the sentiment to the centre I stamped and heat embossed in white onto heat resistant acetate and cut it out. I added it to the Mandala with a little 3D Gloss Gel as it dries clear.

I kept this piece simple as I wanted to just show off the stencil.

I can feel it is getting more and more difficult not to create Christmas pieces, so once again I'm here with a festive story about the little angel sprinkling starlight over the beautiful Christmas time ………

I started with a white/greyboard 6x6 panel painted in Ice Blue and when dry, stenciled the beautiful Poinsettia tree using Light Texture Paste. When dry it was painted with first diluted Chestnut Brown, then Green and lastly with the Metallic Paint Silver, so that the dark tone from the brown and green is still shining through.

The angel was also stenciled onto the panel with Light Texture Paste and when dry, I added Crackle Paint to her dress. It was later dabbed with Green and Teal paint to let it run into the cracks and when dry, it all got a coat of Soft Gel Matte, to keep the rather big cracks in place. Her wings were painted with White and Antique Silver and she has a red cheek, brown hair and shoes and face details, all with Fine Liners.

A snowflake was stenciled in the right corner next to the tree and Ice Blue paint was dabbed all around the tree, angel and star, to create texture not easy to take good photos with all the shine, lol).

Bits and Pieces greyboard, bells and a gift box were all painted with Antique Silver and adhered to the tree with Multi Purpose Craft Adhesive, tying light blue ribbon to hang the bells and wrap the box. Next to the tree on the left side, I added strips of long thin papers, torn and added with gesso to make snowy like texture on the ground - also smeared with a little Teal with my finger! The clouds were created the same way. The Dinky Stencil Stars were stenciled onto heavy cardboard and cut out after I painted them with the Antique Silver. They were adhered on top of a piece of old nylon tulle, totally torn into loose threads, as if falling from the angel hands. Lynne’s Affirmation was stamped also on cardboard in Distress Oxide Salty Ocean and with my finger, I smeared the rest of the colour from her dress and Teal onto the text panels.

I found a Star Anise in my kitchen and made it the top star, painting with a little White and Teal. Also I added little snow dots to the tree and lastly sprinkled silver glitter here and there using the Multi Purpose Craft Adhesive.

Now I hope you are able to see the details but sorry for bad photos, I did retake them 3 times and then gave up! J

This is first Monday in December and I wish you all a wonderful Christmas month.
