I do
not reach for That’s Crafty’s own products because I’m on the D.T., I reach for
them because they inspire me and I am guaranteed that the products are quality
so I can freely layer media, texture and man handle to my heart’s content.
One of
the most recent additions to their product line, the Bits and Pieces Greyboard
embellishments became favourites as soon I had my first play, especially the
wings and feathers set. Here I combined
stunning wings with an older favourite, one of the Art Shrines.
Supplies
That’s Crafty! Multi Surface Paint: Antique Gold, Metallic
Bronze
Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic: Antarctic, Toffee, Chocolate Pudding
Scrap
piece of Kraft Cardstock
Extra:
Old Book Page, Re-cycled Silk Sari Ribbon (previously stained with Infusions Sleight Blue), Corrugated Cardboard, Red Lead Collage Image, Handmade Paper
Instructions
Assemble
shrine then randomly apply Grunge Paste. Just before it dries, apply Antarctic then quickly follow by applying
Antique Gold and Metallic Bronze – apply the paints to gain the most texture
onto the shrine – get messy!
Also,
apply Antarctic to corrugated cardboard.
Paint
the Imperial Egg, first with Antarctic then again, just before the paint is
dry, apply Toffee and Chocolate Pudding, applying the paint to give the
appearance of a speckled egg.
Into
the recess of the shrine, adhere the painted corrugated cardboard then layer
the egg, adhering pieces of torn handmade paper around edges of recess. Through
the eye screw on the egg, slip through a piece of torn Infusions stained,
re-cycled silk sari ribbon. Onto the
egg, adhere Fly and Soar, which had been stamped onto plain margin of vintage
book page.
Adhere
fussy cut collage image onto scrap piece of kraft cardstock. Adhere to top of shrine. Adhere piece of torn, handmade paper to
bottom edge of image.
Apply
Antarctic to large wings, again, just before the paint is dry, applying Antique
Gold and Metallic Bronze, aiming for a distressed appearance – also, taking the
time to paint the rear of the wings.
The
shrine can now be displayed, a reminder to Fly!
