Hi everyone,
It's Donna here today with something a little different from me ;)
What I Did:
As always I started with a sheet of my beloved Strathmore Mixed Media paper as I knew I was going to use a lot of water for this.
Using just a standard acrylic stamping block I swiped over a blue Distress Oxide, spritzed with water and turned it over to 'stamp' on the paper, repeating this 4 times. This gives a nice soft feel to the background.
Using a stamp from a That's Crafty! textures set I stamped that on the middle of the background using a brown Distress Oxide and then I spritzed that image liberally with water too and allowed the colours to mingle a little bit to get that 'hazy' effect as I didn't want the background to dominate the composition.
A stitched effect stamp from the Claire stamp set was added in a green Archival ink, then I added a little circle cut from a Gelli print over which I adhered a little torn piece of text from a vintage French book.
The really textured part is a wide lolly stick which was liberally coated with That's Crafty! sand paste and painted with a mixture of paints including multi surface and Decoart paints.
All that was adhered onto the background which I put to one side while I stamped the dragonfly from the Cara set onto a scrap of Strathmore paper and coloured in with diluted Mermaid markers, fussy cut out and adhere on top of the textured lolly stick.
The finishing touch was to add a couple of sentiments and a number from Tim Holtz Clippings and then to mount the whole piece onto Kraft card.
I'm really pleased with the way it turned out and and it was also a good way to use up little bits and pieces that are floating around on your craft table!
