Hello! I've been playing with the new and gorgeous lustre sprays for my project this week and I can officially say that I'm now addicted to the amazing shimmer you gain by using them. Sadly the photos don't do them justice as in real life there's a ton more shimmer so hopefully this will tempt you to try them if you haven't yet done so.

Step by Step

So, the first thing I did was to take one of the gorgeous shaped greyboard tags with the intention of using just this for my project although in the end it actually became an embellishment.

I used the 6.5 x 7.5 distressed harlequin stencil with texture paste to add a pattern to the tag. Once the surface was dry, I misted on Bluebell and Rose flat matte sprays, repeating the layers several times as the spray soaks in at first. Once this was dry, I then misted on Lilac and Aqua lustre sprays for some really yummy shimmer and shine.


I then decided to use my daisy style fanciful flower image which I stamped several times onto the spray overflow paper with black ink. I find this gives the best contrast to the background as it has the same tones but in a much softer version.


Once I had cut the flowers out and layered them up, my decoupaged flower was quite large and rather drowned the background tag and because I couldn't bear to cover it all up, I decided to prepare a large tag to set everything on.

I took the largest size of white/greyboard tag and added repeated layers of spray misting, starting with Bluebell and Rose flat matte sprays, then adding Lilac lustre spray. Because the surface is white, you get a slightly different yet toning effect.

I stamped on a script texture image several times with Archival Cactus Flower ink and as this came out a little strong, I toned it down by misting on more Rose flat matte spray, followed by Aubergine and Aqua lustre sprays until I was happy with the effect.


I next stamped a couple of leaves on a scrap of green painted paper misted with Lime lustre spray and cut the images out.

I stamped the text from the stamp set on a scrap of the misting overflow paper and cut this into word tiles, running a black inkpad round the edges for emphasis.


I was then ready to assemble my tag which I did using a mix of dimensional glue and foam pads (to give height to the flower set off the smaller tag) and added a scrap of sari ribbon through the top of the shaped smaller tag.


I hope this might encourage you to try out the lustre sprays as if you do take the plunge, you definitely won't be disappointed.

Hello everyone, I have a mixed media piece to share this week with a decided shabby chic look as I've gone for lots of aged texture and crinkled my flowers to fit in with the worn look of the background. Read on to find out how it all came about.

Step by Step

I'm working on one of the new MDF circular surfaces in this case the 6 inch diameter circle and the first step was to add a pattern with texture paste through the leaf spirals stencil, the pattern being on the right side as you'll see below.


Once the paste was dry, I brushed on a good coat of midnight multi surface paint for my under layer which needed to be a strong colour as my intention was a more pastel finish.


I then added a coat of crackle glaze and once it was almost dry, brushed a coat of light blue multi surface paint over the top. I then sat back and waited for the crackle to appear - it doesn't take long!
As you can see, I gained a really lovely aged and shabby effect.

Hello everyone, I have another of those fabulous chunkies to share this week (I can't seem to get enough of these at the moment!) and this one is very bright and cheery as I was feeling summery and couldn't resist sharing this to bring a bit of sunshine which has been sorely lacking until the last few days.

Step by Step

I assembled the chunkie first using the That's Crafty! glue pen which is really great with the fine nozzle.  Once it was put together I painted it with a coat of white gesso. I then used the honeycomb stencil with texture sand paste to add a random pattern round the edges.

When the paste was dry, I painted the surface with a mix of lime, teal and yellow multi surface paints, carrying this on around all the sides to make them match in.

I painted a selection of white/greyboard matches in floral and leaf shapes with multi surface paints and once the paint was dry, stamped on the corresponding stamp image with black ink. I added a little extra colour to the pink flowers with a purple marker.

I assembled the front of the chunkie using 3D glue to attach and layer up the flowers and leaf sprigs and finished off with a white/greyboard plaque from the matches set painted a toning orange shade and stamped with the quote using black ink.

Another fanciful flower creation from me this week, this time on one of the surfaces that I know will be a firm favourite of mine now, the That's Crafty! Chunkies! They can take a lot of texture as they're made from MDF and in this case had a lot of layers thrown at it.

Hello, I hope that you caught the news of our new stamp launch with some gorgeous designs by Donna and Melina but if you missed it, click HERE to see what you missed.

I have something a bit different to share this week as when I saw the beautiful new Lana stencil, I immediately thought of fairytales and this is why she ended up in an enchanted wood setting. Read on to find out how I did this.

I first painted my panel with the multi surface paints, using 2 shades of green and yellow, applying the colour in rough vertical stripes.

I then decided on the placement of my wood nymph, and carefully stencilled on the outlines using chestnut brown paint. I painted her with shades of peach (orange mixed with white and yellow), gold and bronze, using a darker shade for her lips and painting her eye with white and blue. I added dots to the iris with a white paint pen.

I then used just the top of the new mini tree stencil to create tangled branches around the edges with chestnut brown and bronze paint. Layering them up really does look like briars.

I used the enchanted Dinky stencil to add my text with chestnut brown and as a final touch, used the floral background Dinky stencil to add a little pattern to my wood nymph's face with gold paint.
