That's Crafty!: PaperArtsy Stamp Set Sara Naumann ESN20

Hi Everyone! Here is my tutorial for the floral vase stack that I decorated for That's Crafty's show on Hochanda TV.

Instructions...

1. First I base-coated the MDF bottom layer all over with black gesso. I then used Lake Wanaka Fresco to stencil the Moroccan design, moving and matching up the stencil to get an all over pattern.

2. On the next layer, which is acrylic, I used Orchid Fresco to stencil the Flight of Butterflies. The acrylic is heat stable, so you can use a heat gun to dry the paint.

3. On the next acrylic layer, I used Guacamole, Tango, and Zesty Zing to stencil five Flowers.

4. On the top acrylic layer, I used black Stazon ink to stamp the quote from ESN20.

5. I finished off by using the screws to attach all the layers together.

Here's what I did...

1. I began by using a glue stick to adhere a book page to the size 8 tag. When the glue was dry, I tore the excess book page away from around the edges of the tag.

2. I pieced a small hole in the lids of the PaperArtsy Infusions, then sprinkled a few grains of each colour over the tag. I squeezed out a line of PaperArtsy Metallic Glaze at the top of the tag, then used the old store card to spread the glaze down over the tag. This activates the colours of the Infusions, and also sets them with a lovely metallic sheen.

3. Using the Sara Naumann stencil, I traced three of the leafy sprigs using a black journalling pen. I then painted around them with Fresco Finish South Pacific paint. I re-drew the outlines after with the black pen, to make them stand out more.

4. Using Fresco Finish Honey Dew paint, I stamped a few of the flowers around the edges of the tag, then over-stamped them with Memento Nautical Blue. Using Jet Black Archival Ink, I stamped the word 'reverie' and the dots a few times, over the background.

5. I watered down some Honey Dew paint and used a paintbrush to add some splatters to the background.

6. The phrase was stamped onto the unprinted edge of some book page, then cut out, the edges inked with black, and adhered to the tag with the glue stick. I used the blending foam to ink the edges of the tag.

7. I sprinkled a few grains of Emerald Isle Infusions onto my craft mat, mixed in a little water, then used this custom-made ink to colour a piece of crinkle ribbon. I rolled the ribbon into a ball to crinkle it, dried it with a heat gun, and threaded it through the top of the tag.

Here's a closer look, where hopefully you can see the lovely shimmer of the metallic glaze on the leaves.

Here's what I did...

1. To start, I applied a thin rough layer of Grunge Paste to the That's Crafty! MDF ATCs using a palette knife, then I spritzed the Prima Messy stamp, and stamped into the Grunge Paste. I quickly cleaned the stamp before any Grunge Paste dried in it.

2. Once the grunge paste was dried, I painted the ATCs all over with Space Cadet Fresco. I added some Lake Wanaka, then dry brushed some Antarctic over the top, leaving some darker paint in the texture.

3. I used Archival ink to stamp a few dots from the Sara Naumann stamp set, inked the edges of the ATCs with archival ink, then applied gold gilding wax around the edges and to the texture.

4. I used matte gel medium to glue some teabag papers to white card, then stamped the leaves from the PaperArtsy plate with the black Versafine ink and embossed them with detail clear embossing powder. I also stamped and embossed 3 of the words.
