Believe In Yourself by Fliss Goodwin
11:00Hello crafty peeps, Fliss here today with something totally different to my steampunk art last week as I'd like to share my first card in an absolute age in lovely bright Spring colours to warm things up and with a motivational sentiment too as we all need this one at times.
I cut a piece of mixed media paper slightly larger than my square 8x8 kraft card blank and taped the gorgeous floral frame on in the centre. I then applied light texture paste through the stencil using a palette knife to make the very pretty border design.
I placed the stencilled panel on a radiator to dry and it did take quite a while so you need to be a little patient with it. The paste when dry is really lightweight and perfect for use on paper as if you're making a card, it won't fall over.
I next chose some pretty citrus shades of multi surface paint, placing blobs on a plate and diluting them with water before painting the stencilled areas. Once everything was dry, I tore round all the edges (using a ruler) to give a distressed edge.
Serendipity now came into play as when stencilling on the paste, I managed to get a bit of stray paste in the central area where I wanted to add the text. To rescue it, I cut a square of mixed media paper to fit the centre and then used the same stencil with some leftover watered down yellow paint to add a pattern. It came out rather grungy but I like it!
I stamped on the text with green ink and made a butterfly embellishment by stencilling on painted paper with Distress Oxide ink using the butterfly mini stencil and cut the image out to add to the card.
