Instructions
Tearing a length from the calico, I stencilled the stunning Mandala with Texture Paste, focusing on the central element of the stencil. This was repeated along the length of the calico, then laying aside to dry.
Gesso was randomly applied to the MDF panel, allowing some of the base to peek through. It also creates extra texture. Onto a craft sheet, I applied Buff and Metallic Antique Gold, "smooshing" it around on the sheet before pressing the panel into the paint.
Returning to the stencilled calico, time to apply colour to it. Working with the same paints as the panel, I had the same approach, taking the calico to the craft sheet, pressing the stencilled calico into the paint. For some areas, I added a touch of water to the paint, while on the craft sheet.
I always try to have a stash of eco dyed papers and that's what I used for the stamped element, layering a wee bundle with the PaperArtsy EAB quote stamped onto the upper layer.
