Winter Snowflake by Amanda Pink

Hello Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday Weekly post!
At this time of year I always like to have a few pieces of 'Winter/ Christmas' Art around my home so this week I have had the paints, gelli plate and texture pastes out again to create a 'Wintery Snowflake Art Panel'.

The panel itself is 2 x 6x6 inch That's Crafty! white/ greyboard surface adhered together with That's Crafty! Multi Purpose Adhesive - one of the best adhesives on the market in my humble opinion. I have yet to find something it doesn't adhere. A That's Crafty! MDF Surface would work just as well as the white/greyboard. Both are excellent surfaces to work on or with and if you haven't already be sure to check the range out here. Shapes, sizes aplenty and very affordable.
The 6x6 inch panel is crackled and covered with a slightly smaller panel (5.5x5.5inch) cut from an A4 gelli print that I created using paint, a Carabelle unmounted Art printing plate designed by Kate Crane and some giant bubble wrap.

As you can see I added some extra detail by stamping and stenciling.

The bauble is self designed and cut freehand from a large That's Crafty! white/greyboard circle. It is treated with crackle paint in the same way as the 6x6 panel. The circles that sit atop are That's Crafty! Rounds, both of which are covered in pieces cut from the gelli print. The larger of the 2 rounds is texture stenciled using That's Crafty! Texture Paste through one of their Dinky stencils.
The Dinky stencils are the ideal size when you are working on smaller surfaces.

An Ideology Word Band is treated with gesso and adhered to the neck of the bauble.

The snowflake is made up of three individual die cut snowflakes adhered together. They are heat embossed, sprinkled with glamour dust for a subtle touch of glimmer and embellished with an ideology fluted star and eyelet.

Using three snowflakes together in this way gives them a lovely 3D effect as well as adding to the overall dimension and layers of the finished piece.

  4. Stunning layers, both painted and dimensional - there's an icy depth to that background which is just amazing, and the crackle and bubbles and snowflake all work beautifully to draw the eye inward. Fabulous mixed media work.
