Oh Deer, it must be Christmas! by Samantha Read

Hello! Ready or not it's Christmas very soon! I've been quite poorly so sharing an ATCoin Christmas decoration I made a few weeks ago, it's a very quick, easy make and is a great gift idea if you're giving handmade gifts this year.
I find stamping on to shrink plastic seems to give an image a new lease of life simply because it changes the size and you have to adapt your colouring methods.

What I did

My base for this is an ATCoin, and using an old book page and a die I made the rosette. I splattered gold paint all over, added a glittery star and edges and wire for hanging.

I stamped the deer on to shrink plastic using a black Staz On inkpad, Staz On is permanent and not affected by the heating and shrinking process. Using find sandpaper I sanded the reverse to help the colour stay in place, I coloured with Prismacolour pencils, one thing to remember when using shrink plastic is that once shrunk the colours are a lot darker.

This deer is just perfect for Christmas with baubles dangling off her antlers. Once coloured and shrunk I finished by adding a couple of layers of white gesso on the reverse to seal the colours and brighten them and make it less transparent.

What I used

Extras: Gold Glitter, Star, Wire and Sizzix Decorative Strip Die - Tim Holtz - Paper Rosette

Thanks so much for looking, wishing you a lovely day, Sam xx
